Alisha Nicole Mankin Arrested After Uhaul Car Chase

Alisha Nicole Mankin is behind bars after evading police in a stolen U-Haul truck. Mankin was driving at speeds of up to 90 mph and led law enforcement officers on for two hours through two different counties on Wednesday.

The chase was televised and started on the Antelope Valley Freeway where it snaked through downtown Los Angeles twice and took in a scenic drive through Malibu’s vistas. The chase eventually ended on a rural road in Ventura County. During the pursuit, Mankin ran red lights, weaved through heavy traffic and crossed over medians.

When the truck eventually stopped, Mankin jumped out and attempted to flee on foot. She continued running until a California Highway Patrol officer tackled her on the side of the road. She was handcuffed and escorted to jail.

Alisha Mankin will likely be charged with evading law enforcement, stealing a vehicle and reckless driving among other traffic violations.

Did Alisha really think she was going to get away driving a U-Haul? After watching the video I think she maneuvered the tiny U-haul very well for the speed she was going.

Man trampled by frenzied shoppers at Wal-Mart

By now we’ve all heard about the man who was trampled to death by Wal-Mart shoppers on Black Friday. This is a terrible incident that we all could learn something from.

The family of the man who died at the New York Wal-Mart last Friday has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Wal-Mart. The lawsuit also names the shopping mall where the incident occurred and the security company that was employed by Wal-Mart.

This new lawsuit raises the question, whose fault is it really? Is Wal-Mart to blame for not providing proper security and a safe workplace on what has been deemed the busiest shopping day of the year? Or is it the shoppers’ fault that broke down the door and trampled the 34-year-old, Jdimytai Damour, and killed him? One could argue that both are at fault or neither.

This story is bothersome because this man died for no good reason. A man is dead because a crowd of frenzied shoppers couldn’t control their greed. I wonder how is it possible to knock someone over, step all over them and just keep on running. Perhaps, no one noticed the man on the floor or maybe they were just too demented to care.

If I was the man’s family I would also be suing Wal-Mart. Isn’t it time for Wal-Mart to pay up anyway? They should re-think their world domination plan and start paying more attention to the safety of their consumers and employees.

This is just another sad reminder of what an unhealthy state or economy is in. I’m all for the low prices that Wal-Mart delivers but saving a few dollars on the latest electronics and DVD’s just doesn’t seem worth it to me.

Not to mention this is just one of half a dozen incidents that have occurred at stores all over the nation on Black Friday. Serious folks, are we really that savage? Forget about Black Friday, I’m rooting for Cyber Monday because I highly doubt I’ll be trampled to death getting from my bed to the computer, a stubbed toe, maybe.
